Take Back the Night is an annual, global, anti-sexual violence rally held on college campuses in order to bring greater awareness to the issue while targeting the demographic (college students) with some of the highest rates of sexual assault. Traditionally, the rally here at CSUN consists of three main parts: the resource fair, the speakers, and the moment of silence/candle lighting. After the candle’s are lit, we then will march from Plaza Del Sol to the parking lot in front of the Women’s Research and Resource building, for a 2 hour testimonial period.
As has always been the case, this event is open to everyone and there is no cost of admission. Our goal in continuing this event is not only to support the progress that has been made in bringing awareness to the seriousness of sexual violence, but to encourage people to dig even deeper into the issue and how to better support victims. We also hope to help those who may have been a victim of assault, whether that be someone who needs help reporting an incident or someone who needs guidance dealing with trauma from the past.
