The greyhound has a long history of being used as racing animals, dating back to ancient Egypt. Greyhound racing is still a popular sport today, with racetracks around the country being run similarly to horse racetracks. The lives of dogs in the races are very limited.

Organic Chemistry

Many of the methods used in cancer research are synthetic, but not in the laboratory of chemistry professor Tom Minehan. Research in organic synthesis is rare in the western United States, but it is happening right here at CSUN. Minehan’s laboratory, located in Eucalyptus Hall, is developing chemical methods for medical research that does not harm the environment.

Embracing the Dead

CSUN students and community members gathered to celebrate “El Dia de los Muertos,” a day to remember the dead, sponsored by the Student Movement Chicanos of Aztlan. Candles, papier m?ch? skulls, fruits and photographs of deceased family members were just some of the elements that decorated the altars built by students, alumni and community members.

Acting for Justice: The Life of Justin Rabi, Senior Theater/Criminology Major

CSUN student Justin Rabi is the same actor who played “Antonio Bun-deras,” “Edward James Almost,” “Scare Face,” and three more characters in the comedy “Ole for Hollywood,” the first campus production of the semester. The senior student theater/criminology major just finished working in the play that consumed a lot of his time and dedication, but from which he also received a lot of praise.

Charton and the presidency

In outgoing A.S. President Chad Charton’s office hangs a poster showing the Northridge Matadors logo made up of hundreds of tiny images of life at CSUN. The logo, which Charton expects to be projected on one of the campus buildings, is just one of his many plans as the Associated Students outgoing president to brand the university.
