Former DePaul University of Chicago professor Norman G. Finkelstein has been invited by Provost Harry Hellenbrand to speak at CSUN this week in a three-day speaking event starting today. Finkelstein will speak on the “Civility and Academic Freedom” at the Oviatt Library for his first lecture at 9:30 a.

The Associated Student Senate reported 11 vacant seats during its first meeting for the spring semester. Five of the 11 vacant seats resulted from involuntary resignations from the newly elected senators. Lizbeth Mateo held the title Upper Division II senator before she was asked to resign after not attending a mandatory retreat for all appointed senators.

Nordhoff Hall’s old age look might be changing in the years to come if enough funding is granted toward the project. A web link at the theatre department’s website shows hopes of remodeling Nordhoff Hall by giving it a more pleasing style. The idea came from Dave Moon, former dean of the arts department.

The Leukemia ‘ Lymphoma Society chose “Twenty Years of Saving Lives” as the new slogan for their program, Team in Training. Mary Schaffer, an assistant professor in the department of Cinema ‘ Television Arts, has helped the organization save lives via the program for four years.
