CSUN setter Sam Porter was chosen as the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Freshman of the Week for his help in leading his team through an undefeated start for the season.
The announcement was made on Monday after Porter led a four-game victory against USC on Friday with 52 assists. Porter also directed CSUN’s offense to a .410 attack percentage.
The freshman setter led the No. 14 Matadors to achieve a .449 attack percentage in Wednesday night’s win over Cal Baptist, which then led to their victory over USC.
This is only the second time a CSUN freshman player has received this honor.
