April 21 is Earth Day, an annual worldwide movement to bring awareness about the environment. At CSUN, among all the festivities, there was an Earth Day-themed art competition.
The contestants were required to create an Earth Day-themed piece of art on a recycled wood palate, according to Angelo Dracopoulos, a Recreation Tourism Management major. Dracopoulos was one of the Earth Day employees working at the art competition.
The first place winner will have their work featured in the Sustainability Center and receive $300 gift card to Blick’s Art Supplies, according to Dracopoulos. Second place winner gets a $200 gift card to Blick’s, and third place receives a gift card to Blick’s for $100.
First place went to Nicole Guerrera for her piece entitled, “Smog.” Second place went to Justin Kim’s piece, which had no title. Third place went a piece called, “Paradise,” created by Amanda Velarde and Mitchell Michaelis, according to Dracopoulos.
