Whether your a tree-hugger or not, you can’t miss the second annual CSUN Campus Sustainability Day that will be held on Wednesday, October 21 from 9 am – 8:30 pm.

Throughout the morning, faculty and students will hold presentations in the Whitsett Room,room 451, in Sierra Hall. Helen Cox, director of CSUN’s Institute for Sustainability said  the topics include information on new sustainable courses,  initiatives that aim to make CSUN a more sustainable campus and tips about things students can do to reduce their impact on campus and at home.

During a round-table discussion, the event will also give students the opportunity to voice their concerns and thoughts regarding sustainability.

In the afternoon, the event will continue at the Orange Grove and the Hillel Garden. Associated Student’s Environmental Affairs Committee is sponsoring the orange picking event and will donate the fruit to a local food bank.

But, the day doesn’t end there. If you’d like to participate in the “Sustainable Gardening Social,” at the Hillel Garden your ticket in is a can a food that will also be donated. You can check out the garden as you wait for dinner to be served and linger around to watch “King Corn,” a documentary about two recent college graduates who want to learn where their food comes and move to Iowa, plant an acre of corn and follow it from seed to their table.
