Miles Nevin, executive director of the California State Student Association (CSSA), made a presentation at this week’s Associated Students (A.S.) Senate meeting.

One of his main objectives was to announce that the California State University (CSU) Board of Trustees is currently looking for a student to fill the seat of student trustee.

“We are looking for someone who is passionate. We want someone to be proactive,” he said. “We are looking for a partner to advocate on issues.”

General qualifications for the position include: must be of junior standing as of July 10, 2010, enrolled throughout the academic year, a minimum 2.0 GPA, attend CSU Board of Trustees meetings, attend CSSA meetings and be able to travel.

It’s unfortunate that most of the student population don’t attend A.S. meetings, or know what the CSSA is. It would be nice to have a student trustee who hasn’t been jaded by too many years in their student government.
