Super Bowl XLV is making history. For the first time there will be no cheerleaders.
There are six NFL teams that do not have cheerleaders. The Packers did away with theirs in 1988 and the Steelers haven’t had cheerleaders since 1970. Some are asking if the NFL should sub-in cheerleaders for this game, but the organization said it won’t.
Others argue with so much going on, people won’t even know they’re gone. There is enough action for spectators.
The spectacle will have two teams fighting to be champion, a half-time show featuring the Black Eyed Peas and millions of dollars in advertisements. Why rule out cheerleaders that have always been out of the big game?
