CSUN suffered a 2-0 loss to No. 20 Kansas State Wildcats (7-0) Friday, in their first non-conference matchup on the road this weekend. The now 7-0 Kansas and Matadors (2-3-1) faced off for a brutal 75 minutes with no score until the Jayhawk’s Jamie Fletcher pushed one across the line.
With a whopping 32 combined fouls, both teams battled it out for the brunt of the contest with no score. CSUN earned their most fouls in a single game this season with 14 and the Jayhawks came in with 18 fouls and 2 yellow cards.
The Matadors allowed the Jayhawk’s Ashley Williams to put another one on net in the 88th minute as they attempted for an equalizer late in the contest.
Although the match ended in a loss for the Matadors, they still led 10-9 in shots on goal. Cynthia Tafoya made 2 saves in the defeat for CSUN and Jayhawk goalie Kaitlyn Stroud stopped three for their shutout. All six Matador contests have ended in a shutout this season.
