Helping and not helping: Michelle Obama and Pastor Eddie Long

Michelle Obama

With the launch of her new campaign, “Let’s Move” against childhood obesity, first lady Michelle Obama is taking actions in to her own hands and encouraging our youth to eat healthier and stay active.

I believe this campaign is necessary. Our children today are becoming more and more obese and it is becoming widely acceptable. Since when has it been okay to place our children’s health in danger?

The first lady is advocating for healthier options in the cafeteria during lunch time, educating parents and children on the dangers of childhood obesity and promoting healthy and active lifestyles so our children may live healthy lives. I say you go girl- you have my support.

NOT HELPING:
Pastor Eddie Long

Atlanta mega-church pastor Eddie Long decided to address the public and his congregation on the alleged charges of coercing teenage boys into having sex with him. Throughout his entire speech, which seemed to be drafted up by his lawyers, he neither confirmed nor denied the allegations. Instead he repeatedly said, “I am not a perfect man.”

This statement shows he could not say he did not coerce the teenage boys in question because those statements would not be true and would therefore hurt him in the legal battle that he is involved in.

What saddens me most is that he convinced his entire congregation to follow and trust the fact that he is a man of his word and a man of God while behind closed doors he was allegedly coercing these same boys into having sex with him.

Child molestation is a serious allegation and people need to realize that evil knows no boundaries.

    Enough reason for concern has been raised that it is time for the leadership of New Birth to tell Bishop Long to sit down and submit to authority while the truth is sought and established. If he is guilty of such things, a lack of accountability in the church helped make it all possible. For him to be cleared if he is innocent or disciplined if he is not requires that his church follow Biblical precepts. The testimony of two or three witnesses is sufficient to require an investigation by the church itself. Long cannot be the one to pose the questions and feed out the answers as best suits his own interests. When the dust clears, it is possible that “pride” will have done more damage to this ministry than “gay.”

    Why isn’t the pastor and other pastors calling for prayer for these young men. What would Jesus do, well He would pray for them and also say “forgive them for they know not what they do.” The pastor is acting like the world when he is supposed to be a man of faith and leadership. Fighting is worldly and prayer is of God. If innocent I believe he would be taking a much different approach to the situation instead of making a worldly like statement and arrogantly walking off the stage “oops” pulpit.

    I remember hearing a preacher (John Cherry, of Maryland) call it: “Feeding on the slaughter of the flock”

    There are some who need to be told they can do this or they can achieve that. It is called psychological conditioning. There is a scripture in the Bible that talks about the foolishness of preachers ands there are some who NEED it.

    My belief is that any church carrying the cross (a roman instrument of torture) is a dead church. Any church that has a non-profit (.org) behind its name is carrying the mark of the beast.

    Many believe in their mind (the seal is on their head) They take non-profit money from the government, thus making a seal in thier hands for God only to visit their hearts. The mark of the beast.

    There isn’t a church anywhere that fights tooth-and-nail for the children that has been wrongly taken from the poverty stricken because they have no assets.

    John the Baptist saw an altar with the souls of the dead in Christ bewailing: “How long will you allow our blood to go unpunished on the inhabitants of the earth?”

    There are children every where being sold into slavery by government factions. But NO PREACHER OR CHURCH STANDS FOR THEM!

    “When the government becomes the lawbreaker it breeds contempt for the law.”

      John The Baptist? Ok…maybe you should study the Bible a little better. The APOSTLE John is the one that wrote that in Revelation 6. Nothing you wrote is Biblical, and you share with us what your beliefs are. Please back that up with truth. Because I can say that I believe that ham is blue, but that doesn’t make it blue!

    I HAVE ALWAYS BELEIVED THAT MEN ARE JUST MEN, NOT LITTLE GODS. THEY HURT, THEY BLEED AND THEY DIE JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. WE PUT THEM ON A PEDESTAL AND WHEN THEY FALL OFF THAT PEDESTAL WERE SHOCKED. DON’T BE SHOCKED, BY ELEVATING THEM ABOVE OUR OWN SELVES WE FEED THEIR EGO AND THEY START TO BELEIVE THERE OWN HYPE. WE CREATED THESE MEN BY BEING A FOLLOWERS AND NOT LEADERS OF OUR SELVES, YOU DON’T NEED SOMEONE TO TELL YOU CAN MAKE IT, THAT THERES LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL, YOU HAVE TO BELEIVE THAT WITHIN YOU. LACK OF SELFESTEEM LEAVES US VUNERABLE TO PEOPLE LIKE THIS, LIERS, HYPOCRATES AND FALSE PREACHERS. WHAT EVER DROVE BISHOP LONG TO DO THIS AND BELEIVING HE WOULD NEVER BE CAUGHT, PROVES THAT HE HAS AN ILLNESS, HE PREYS ON BOYS WHILE THERE YET TEENS AND HAS NO MORE USE FOR THEM WHEN THERE ADULTS. HE’S PREACHED MANY TIMES ABOUT OVERCOMING THE DEVIL, THE FLEASH AND THE MIND. HOW DOES A SANE MAN PREACH ABOUT SUCH THINGS AND DOING THEM HIMSELF, DOES HE NOT KNOW HE WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS ACTIONS ON EARTH AND BEYOUND, STEP DOWN,GET THE HELP YOU NEED AND IF GOD WANTS TO CONTINUE USE YOU, HE WILL LET YOU KNOW.
