Guided Meditation

The Oasis Wellness Center will hold a meditation event, which looks to remove stress and replace it with a dose of inner peace and is a great tool to balance your emotions, deal with physical and psychological distress and promote the peace of the present moment. The event will be held from 4 to 4:55 p.m. in the Vitality Room and is free to all CSUN students looking for a relaxed evening.

Serenity Yoga

Students can register for Serenity Yoga, which brings healing and balance to the body’s systems. This Hatha based yoga class targets relaxation and includes posture, breath and meditation. The event will occur from 4 to 5:10 p.m. in the Oasis Wellness Center Reflection Patio and is free of charge.

Tuesday, Mar. 8

Jazz “A” Band / Matt Harris, director

Bob Mintzer, one of the most influential composers in the world, and the CSUN Jazz “A” Band will perform on campus at 7:30 p.m. in the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall. The cost of the event ranges from $7-15.

Wednesday, Mar. 9

“Cultivating Mindfulness” at the Oasis Wellness Center

Oasis Wellness Center will be hosting a workshop called, “Cultivating Mindfulness,” which aims to teach you meditation techniques that will help you gain a more relaxed, stress-free life. The workshop is free to all CSUN students from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Serenity/Vitality Meeting Room, located in the Oasis Wellness Center.

Art Session at the Oasis: Contemplation Painting

The Oasis Wellness Center will hold a free workshop, which uses painting to improve your stress levels, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The event is held every Wednesday, and registration begins 24 hours before the class date. Cost of the workshop is free for all students.

Poolside DJ Party: March Madness Edition

Come join us for some five-on-five competitions during the March Madness Water Basketball Tournament. The event will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the SRC Rec Pool is free to all CSUN students. Each member of the winning team will receive a Champion’s Intramural T-shirt, and the first 100 students to show up in a swimsuit will be given a free Subway lunch box.

Peril and Promise

Join Executive Director Carlos Vaquerano for a discussion, which is part of the 2015-16 Latino Americans programming at CSUN. The event will take place from 11 to 12:15 p.m. in the Oviatt Library Ferman Presentation Room. The cost of admission is free to students.

Men’s Circle

CSUN will host a workshop led by Luis J. Rodriguez, which will talk about men’s issues using mythology from around the world, as well as stories and poetry. The workshop will occur from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Jacaranda Hall 1552 and is free of charge.

Sexual Health Education

Come join students for a 60-minute presentation on sexual and reproductive health. The event will cover three main topics: Sexually Transmitted Diseases, contraception and Klotz Health Center. The event will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Oasis Wellness Center Vitality Room.

“Let’s Beat Test Anxiety” Workshops

Dr. Saimir Thano of University Counseling Services will lead a workshop, which teaches ways to manage and improve your anxiety when it comes to test taking. The event takes place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Oasis Wellness Center and is free of charge for all students on campus.

Conductor John Roscigno and the CSUN Symphony Orchestra will perform “An Evening in Italy” on campus at 7:30 p.m. in the VPAC Great Hall. The cost of attendance ranges from $7-15.

How to grow your own food and make your own compost

Come attend a presentation on the basics of organic vegetable gardening and composting. The event will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Campus Garden. The cost is free to all students.

Parade

CSUN will host an event on amid religious intolerance, political injustice and racial tension. Parade tells a true story about Leo Frank, who was put on trial for the murder of 13-year-old Mary Phagan, a factory worker. The event will begin at 2 p.m. in Nordhoff Hall’s Little Theatre.

Get CPR, AED and First Aid Certified in One Day at the SRC

For $45 CSUN students can take classes to get certified in CPR, AED and First Aid. This opportunity will be held from 9 to 4 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center and required those interested to register online.
