‘California Video’ at the Getty offers a new twist on art

A new exhibition at the Getty Center has something to boast about - it's the first of its kind in California. California Video features video art from more than 58 artists and displays 50 single-channel videos and 15 video installations. The video medium began to be used as art in the 1960s and 70s, and the last forty years has seen a proliferation in this form of artistic expression.

‘Art as Life’ exhibit at MOCA captures conceptual emotion

A new exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles highlights the work and theory of Allan Kaprow, an artist best known as a pioneer of performance art. Allan Kaprow - Art as Life gathers the artist's early works (paintings, assemblages, scores, photography and video) and displays them alongside recreations of sets that he designed throughout his career.

Broad Contemporary Art Museum debuts at LACMA

The new addition to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art opened its doors to the public on Feb. 16, showcasing works by big-name contemporary artists and possessing an entertaining if at times perplexing atmosphere. The Broad Contemporary Art Museum, or BCAM for short, contains works by artists like Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons and John Baldessari.

Raising awareness on alcohol abuse

In an ongoing effort to reduce alcohol abuse among students, CSUN is one of eight California universities to receive part of a $700,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety. The grant is part of a project that brings California Highway Patrol, local campus police and university communities together to implement an alcohol awareness campaign, stated the California OTS website.
