The Career Center put on the Spring Job fair on March 15, that included more than 100 different companies for students to interact with. These companies in attendance specialized in a variety of areas including engineering, the police department, marketing, and health care.
“It’s basically our giant, general job fair for students,” said history major Lisa Ramirez who was working the event. “We recruit over 130 employers to come and offer jobs and internships to our different students and alumni at CSUN.”
Each company had a booth set up in either the Northridge Center or the Grand Salon. The representatives from the companies provided information for students while handing out pamphlets. They also had small giveaways at each booth.
“They are offering part time jobs, internships and even full time jobs,” said student Julie Lopez who worked the event. “It’s not just for sophomores and freshmen, it is also for graduating seniors to find careers after college.”
Students were encouraged to bring a resume with them to the event to receive advice from the representatives. Students can also get help and learn how to create a resume by visiting the Career Center.
“I think they can gain practicing their networking skills, speaking to an employer and giving them their resume,” said Ramirez. “Sometimes employers will give their critique.”
Students who have previously graduated from CSUN were also welcomed to the job fair.
“I am hoping to apply for jobs and get one soon,” said finance alumni student Karan Saraf who graduated last fall.
This event is for students who are currently attending CSUN or who have recently graduated. All attendees can explore the different fields that are offered and speak to professionals.
“I was trying to see what was out there, if there was anything that interested me and to talk to people and hear about their company,” said psychology major Sarah Malecki.
If students missed out on the Spring Job Fair, the Career Center is hosting two more career events this semester.
The Education Expo will be held on April 13 at noon at the USU Northridge Center. And on May 25, they will hold an alumni job fair for alumni students and students who will graduate this May.
