Students met with staff members from the University Student Union on Tuesday to get a map and a punch card to begin their journey around campus in search of items to complete a disaster kit.

“All you have to do is go to the eight locations around campus and we have a punch out card for each location,” said Nathaniel Raymundo, a marketing assistant for the USU. “You can increase your chances of winning by using social media and the hashtag, #CSUNprepared.”

Some of the items needed to complete the kit included hand sanitizer, a flashlight, band aids and rain poncho.

“Some prizes include “The Walking Dead” CDs and DVDs, zombie pillow cases as well as other prizes that involve zombies or Halloween activities,” said Andrew Quijno, marketing assistant for the USU.

In the case of any emergency situation, students should have a disaster kit on hand and have a plan of action ready.

“I would just be aware of your surroundings at all times, and when you see something going on try to be a leader and try to handle the situation as calmly as possible,” said Quijno.

The event will run until 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
