Democratic gubernatorial candidate Xavier Becerra joined former Vice President Kamala Harris, Gov. Gavin Newsom and Sens. Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff at the Hollywood Palladium for the “Stop the Power Grab” rally, the last major campaign event before Election Day.
The event was held just two days before the election and focused on encouraging and energizing Democratic voters to support Becerra and other candidates.
“Are we ready to elect Xavier Becerra as the next governor of California?” Harris said. “The momentum is on our side … because people are done with the brutality. They’re done with living in fear. They’re done with not being able to pay for gas or groceries. They’re done with an administration that cuts Medicaid.”
Newsom also endorsed Becerra, telling supporters they have the opportunity to elect “a governor that not only gets it, but gets things done.”
Becerra spoke about his background and his plans to challenge President Trump.
“I have stood up to dangerous authoritarianism before and I’m ready to do it again,” Becerra said. “I want to make one thing abundantly clear. I’m not running to make history, I’m running to make a difference.”
Becerra is currently dominating the gubernatorial race. According to ActiVote, Becerra is leading Republican Steve Hilton 63.2% to 36.8%.
“In two days, if we do our job, Americans will turn all that hate into a blue wave, a blue wave that will wash the corruption and cruelty of Trump down the drain of history,” Becerra said.
