CSUN Greens will join other organizations and businesses at a climate-change rally on Olvera Street this Sunday, Feb. 17. The demonstration will coincide with a rally in Washington D.C. organized by 350.org and the Sierra Club.
According to the event’s Facebook page, the organizers hope the demonstrations will encourage President Barack Obama to “take a stand” against climate change, advocate for renewable energy and bring the public’s attention to the TransCanada KeyStone XL Pipeline, which would transport synthetic crude oil from Canada to several destinations in the United States, including the gulf region.
Obama cited climate change in his State of the Union address on Feb. 12 as an important issue facing the nation.
The rally will begin at 1 p.m. and start at Olvera Street on the South-West Side of Paseo De La Plaza and end at Los Angeles City Hall.
