The Veteran’s Resource Center is accepting donations for care packages for veterans starting March 25 until May 6 with stations across campus.
The purposes of the program, known as “Operation Gratitude,” is to show members of the U.S. military they are appreciated and have the support of people back at home.
Laura Hurtado, junior public health major and mentor at the VRC, is in charge of the program on campus.
Once donations have been completed the group working with Hurtado will sort items and take the packages down to the Operation Gratitude office in Van Nuys for shipment.
Each year Operation Gratitude sends more than 100,000 care packages from national donations to deployed troops and wounded warriors.
Students can donate various items including personal care products, imperishable snacks, personal electronics and gift cards to Walmart, Walgreens and Target.
Students can drop of any of those items at the many boxes across campus such as the Career Center Counseling Center, Student Resource Center, Sol Center and the VRC.
