Men’s soccer suffers first Big West loss

Matt Crosson October 23, 2006
The CSUN men's soccer team out shot and out played Cal Poly on Wednesday, but still walked away from the match with their first conference loss of the season. The Matadors controlled possession for most of the game, winning the majority of loose balls at midfield and giving numerous scoring opportunities to their strikers.

MySpace inspires relationship controversy

Danielle R. Swopes October 23, 2006
Romantic relationships are difficult. They are also precious, and possibly the most rewarding thing in life. I know my world is made a billion times brighter knowing that my honey bunny will be there when I get home. Why do people risk these wonderful relationships for stupid things? One of the latest arguments is the battle of MySpace - it's a whole new arena for jealousy and misunderstandings.

In the Sundial on Oct. 19, a photo on page 3 the B3 parking structure stairwell was credited incorrectly. The photographer is Jennifer Day. The error is in Cynthia Rawitch's quote, "The largest UC campus?" It should say, "The largest UC class is larger than the largest CSU class.

Muslim fasting ritual ends this week

Daniel Harju October 23, 2006
As the sun sets over the San Fernando Valley, food is on everyone's mind. When the smell of food wafts through the door, filling the room, it entices the senses and an informal countdown goes into effect. When the time comes, a group of about 20 thirsty and hungry members of the CSUN Muslim Student Association quickly gather with a characteristic calm around the makeshift food table to break their fast with Italian spaghetti with meatballs in marinara sauce.

Some on-campus eateries provide healthy choices for students

Christina Eddings October 23, 2006
With New York City's Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Frieden's proposal to ban the use of trans fats in city restaurants, it would not be surprising if other cities followed suit. The Los Angeles Unified School District and other school districts nationwide have long been in the news for the unhealthy state of their meal plans and schools' lack of physical education for students.

As the temperatures dropped lower and lower Saturday night at the Bamboozle Left music festival, the kids spread across the field found various ways to keep themselves warm. Some of them were wrapped in blankets they had laid out on the grass. Some were jumping up and down and kicking the air in time to the music.

Universal Studios Horror Nights presents gruesome scares

Victor Flores October 19, 2006
Summer had been officially over for some weeks and signs of rain were apparent for the upcoming winter season. The gray clouds covered the skies throughout most of the day and had yet to disperse with the arrival of the later hours of the day. As the skies darkened, drops of rain finally began to fall as sunset arrived.

Travel woes continue to amplify

Maliha Jafri October 19, 2006
There's a famous quote that goes something like "Lucky in love and unlucky in gambling." Mine would be "Lucky on the whole, unlucky while traveling." Travel. A word I associate with excitement, curiosity, anxiousness and prayer. Prayer? You are wondering if you read that correctly, right? Yes, prayer.

Dear Editor, My husband and I read with interest your two recent stories about the Matador Patrol and the fact that CSUN refuses to take a proactive stance regarding criminal background checks. As the parents of a freshman girl living six hours away from home in the dorms, your investigative report has opened our eyes to a most disturbing situation.

Acting for Justice: The Life of Justin Rabi, Senior Theater/Criminology Major

Carla Acevedo-Eldredge October 19, 2006
CSUN student Justin Rabi is the same actor who played "Antonio Bun-deras," "Edward James Almost," "Scare Face," and three more characters in the comedy "Ole for Hollywood," the first campus production of the semester. The senior student theater/criminology major just finished working in the play that consumed a lot of his time and dedication, but from which he also received a lot of praise.
