Injury update: Haynes out at Cal Poly

CSUN starting guard Rob Haynes suffered a concussion during Thursday night’s 72-70 Matador win at UCSB. The injury happened when the senior dove for a loose ball in the opening minutes of the first half and apparently hit his head. He also split his lip. He was taken to a hospital for a diagnostic test and while X-rays were negative, he will miss Saturday’s game at Cal Poly, Head Athletic Trainer Steve Grech said Friday.

“He’s fine, but he still has an injured neck and some symptoms from the concussion,” Grech said. “He’ll be reevaluated this (coming) week.”

The senior’s official status is day-to-day.

Haynes is averaging 10.7 points per game and shooting 51 percent from the field. He’s also the Matadors’ best three-point shooter, making 47 percent of his attempts.
