Matadors vs. Pacific, Big West Tournament final

It’s just been a week and here they go again. The Matadors are seven days removed from their latest match against the Tigers and have to face them one last time this season. This one, again is for a championship.

Northridge couldn’t secure itself the title last week when it visited Stockton, losing to Pacific, 62-55. Luckily enough for it, UC Santa Barbara, which was beat Friday night by CSUN, defeated Long Beach State on a buzzer beater. The result made the Matadors outright regular-season champions and gave them the No. 1 seed in the Big West Conference Tournament.

The Tigers swept CSUN this season. A but the Matadors could use is that in the first game, at Northridge on Jan. 2, the Matadors were barely beginning to jell – it was Deon Tresvan’t last game. The second time, the Tiger win was at Stockton, which historically has been automatic for Pacific against Northridge (CSUN is 0-9 all-time at the Spanos Center).

Pacific beat Long Beach State 65-60 Friday night. Chad Troyer led the Tigers with 22 points

Tonight’s game (at 9:00 p.m.) will be televised by ESPN2.
