Braswell candidate for head coach position

According to a blog posted by ESPN’s Andy Katz, Cal State-Northridge’s Bobby Braswell is a potential candidate for the vacant USC men’s basketball head coach position.  Braswell is being mentioned following a remarkable run that ended with a near upset of no.2 seed Memphis, in the NCAA Tournament.

“I was not aware that he was being considered as a candidate for this position, but I am not surprised,” said CSUN’s Assistant Athletic Director Bob Vazquez.  “He is a great coach and following the success of last season he deserves to be considered at high-level programs.”

Braswell has coached the Matadors for the past 13 seasons and has a few ties to the USC basketball program.  He coached the USC senior associate athletic director Dr. Brandon Martin at Cleveland High School in Reseda in the late 1980s.  Braswell is also familiar with the Los Angeles area and this could prove to be a plus when it comes to recruiting.  What he has been able to do with the Matadors and revitalize the program has certainly caused his name to enter these types of discussions.
