Workers union and CSU system reach agreement

Bargaining teams for the California State University system and its non-faculty workers union reached a tentative agreement for a three-year contract at San Diego State University last Wednesday after years of stagnant salaries that have not kept up with the rate of inflation.

Recent crimes in dorms prompt police alerts

CSUN police released two campus alerts for criminal incidents that occurred within the residence dorm areas on Oct. 19 and 24, posting them in mail and laundry rooms. Neither crime was reported in the daily crime log that is released by CSUN Police. The first campus alert released shows that on Oct.

Comic, anime heroes come to campus

Lucius Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies, Kiva from “Naruto” and Abel Knightguard from “Trinity Blood” were on campus this past weekend for the first ever Mikomicon, an anime and comic book convention hosted by the CSUN Anime Club. Dressed up like their favorite characters, anime lovers in attendance were treated to Taiko drum displays, concerts, panels and workshops from artists and voice actors from the industry, martial arts displays, Super Smash Brothers tournaments and so much more.

Oviatt briefly evacuated due to fire alarm

The CSUN Oviatt Library was evacuated for half an hour Tuesday at around 1 p.m. after a smoke sensor was triggered in OV31, the electric room, on the Garden Level of the building, said Eric Willis, circulation desk administrator. Local firefighters and police arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.

Man arrested on charge of vehicle theft

A man was arrested on a charge of driving a stolen vehicle Sept. 21 in the Lot B3 parking structure near West University Drive, said CSUN Police Officer Doug Flores. Khristoffer Crawford, 23, was booked at L.A.P.D. Van Nuys, according to the university police crime logs.

CFA-CSU salary negotiations stall

On one side of the table sat the California State University assistant vice chancellor and half a dozen other officials, with the CSUN president looking on behind them. On the other side sat senior and junior faculty members and librarians. After three days of negotiations, they all left the room, unable to reach a compromise.

In recent years, “the way” has been through university computer systems, which hackers have used to prove their supremacy over their gatekeepers and have shown to be easy pickings.
