CSUN men’s volleyball didn’t skip a beat against Central State. They had just defeated 11th-ranked USC, and carried over their momentum when they faced the winless Marauders. The Matadors jumped ahead from the get-go, putting the pressure on the Marauders to respond. CSUN took home the victory in three sets. Last season was a very streaky one for the Matadors as they went on massive winning and losing streaks in different parts of the season. This year, redshirt freshman Jalen Phillips has stepped up as the leader in kills, adding another punch to the Matadors’ attack that could make them consistent threats this season. With veterans like Kyle Hobus and Donovan Constable powering the offense, CSUN is poised to make a deep run this year. They will travel to Stanford to take on the Cardinal Friday and Saturday as they kick off the month of February.
