Attempted robbery closes Nordhoff Street between Reseda Boulevard and Yolanda Avenue

An unsuccessful robbery was reported on Nordhoff Street between Reseda Boulevard and Yolanda Avenue on Tuesday night. After a K-9, search the suspect was not found and the search was called off, said LAPD Officer Karen Rayner.

At 7:45 p.m., a robber tried to snatch a purse from a female pedestrian. After one shot was fired into the ground, an unidentified security guard and the victim’s brother chased the suspect into a home on the 18100 block of Nordhoff Street.

Police evacuated three people from the property, who said no one else was inside. The K-9 unit was deployed afterward.

According to the LAPD Devonshire Division, the suspect is a Hispanic male, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 and wore a black hooded sweater. The suspect’s name wasn’t released.
