The Northridge Farmers’ Market will open its doors Wednesday, March 20, for the first time this year providing in-season produce from local farmers, pre-packaged artisan foods and live entertainment.
The farmers’ market is located at 9301 Tampa Ave. in the Northridge Fashion Center’s parking lot.
For their grand opening, the Farmers’ Market will feature live entertainment shows including a performance from the Granada Hills Highlander marching band. Immediately following the band there will be dignitary introductions and a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Concluding the ceremony will be a raffle drawing where participants who enter have the chance to win products from supporting vendors.
Attendees who sign up for the Northridge Fashion Center Club will also be able to receive a free reusable shopping bag, while supplies last.
Families will be able to enjoy a visit from the LA Kings Ice Crew and a watch a family stage show. In addition, there will be weekly children’s activities, craft items, and informational booths featuring local business promotions. Children will be able to enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, balloon artists, bungee jumping, caricature artwork and an inflatable obstacle course.
The farmers’ market, managed by Coastal Pacific, typically features over 100 participating vendors. Local farmers will sell in-season fruits, vegetables, honey, flowers, plants and fresh fish. Pre-packaged goods include hummus, dried fruit and nuts, salsa, spices, coffees and candy. Freshly prepared food booths will include Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine, barbecue, seafood, funnel cakes, kettle corn, sausages, crepes and more. There will also be a variety of crafters selling jewelry, artwork, soaps, pottery, hats and clothing.
The farmers’ market is located at 9301 Tampa Ave. in the Northridge Fashion Center’s parking lot. The Farmers’ Market will run every Wednesday from 5:00-9:00 p.m. through October 2013.
