The Associated Students opened their fifth annual Summer Movie Fest on Thursday, June 5, with the showing of movie “Clueless.”
CSUN students, families and community members gathered on the Oviatt Lawn for the movie showing and local food trucks.
Leanne Vincent, founder of the Summer Movie Fest and CSUN Alumni, said putting this event on each summer is one of her favorite things to do and the best part of her job.
Though it’s free to attend, the Associated Students collects donations through a raffle to help benefit the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission. Attendees can purchase a raffle ticket, which enters them into a drawing for various prizes. Attendees can also donate food and clothing items.
The Movie Fest began to support the non-profit organization after a they had a fire last year and continued this year as the organization expanded to a larger building.
