Matadors routed by Pepperdine in season-opener

It was clearly a Friday night to forget for the CSUN women’s basketball team at Firestone Fieldhouse. One week after poor shooting cost the Matadors their exhibition opener, the same problem came back to haunt them in their season opener, as they were routed by the host Pepperdine Waves.

Matadors defeated by Mustangs 1-0

The second meeting between the CSUN Cal Poly San Luis Obispo men’s soccer teams saw someone come out with a win this time around. Unfortunately for the Matadors, it wasn’t them. The Mustangs struck late in the first half and relied on its defense to stifle Northridge and send them to a 1-0 loss in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday night.

Women’s team is rebuilding

The 2007-2008 CSUN women’s basketball team will have a new look as compared to the last four years. With seven players from last year’s fourth place team having moved on, the Matadors now face the task of trying to hold its own with an entirely different makeup.

Matadors defeated by UC Davis 2-1

One quick strike by the UC Davis Aggies on Sunday afternoon put the CSUN men’s soccer team in a hole. The Aggies scored just 11 seconds into Sunday’s match and controlled much of the first 15 minutes of play, which resulted in another goal and held off a fierce charge from the Matadors for a 2-1 victory at Matador Soccer Field.

Krohn’s goal crushes Gauchos’ playoff chances

The CSUN women’s soccer team had a say in who goes to the Big West Tournament. With is own conference tournament hopes out of reach, the Matadors played the role of spoiler in its matchup with the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos on Friday afternoon at Matador Soccer Field.

Matadors defeated 76-72 in overtime

An exhibition game between the CSUN Matador women’s basketball team and the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos turned into a lot more on Friday night. Following a solid first half in which the Matadors led by as many as 17 points, CSUN’s shooting let them down in the second half and the Broncos took advantage, rallying to lead in the later stages and eventually pulling out a 76-72 overtime win.

A win and a double-loss for Matadors

The CSUN women’s volleyball team split its last two matches, beating Bakersfield in four games on Thursday, but then losing to Long Beach State in three games Saturday night. The Matadors lost more than the match on Saturday, though. Along with being swept by the Long Beach State 49ers at the Matadome, CSUN also lost junior opposite Jenn Probert to a knee injury late in the third game.

Matadors defeat CSULA 90-54

New exhibition season, same result for the CSUN men’s basketball team. For the third straight year, the Matadors staged their first exhibition game of the season against the Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles and for the third straight year, CSUN came away with the victory.

Another scoreless tie for Matadors

The CSUN men’s soccer team outplayed the 15th-ranked Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Mustangs for 110 minutes on Wednesday afternoon. However, for the sixth time this season and fourth time in conference play, the Matadors’ best effort resulted in a tie and just one point in the conference standings.
