Associated Students’?? accounts to be replenished by high enrollment

Tuesday’s Associated Students Senate meeting had positive news on the financial front, as Director of Finance Adam Haverstock said that the excess enrollment funds would be voted on for availability next week. “We are in the preliminary stages of receiving money from excess enrollment, so we won’t be at zero,” Haverstock said in reference to the financial actions on the agenda.

A.S. candidates speak out on plans for 2007-08

The A.S. Presidential hopefuls gathered on Tuesday evening to inform and persuade the public that their platforms had the most to offer the student body for the next school year. While many candidates for senator, vice president and president were there to answer questions and give their perspectives, it was also evident that certain candidates were missing.

A.S. reserve accounts nearly drained by students, clubs

Funding for clubs and organizations was yet again the primary issue for many members of the Associated Students Senate during Tuesdays meeting. With all financial actions having been approved for the week, there is currently $5,869 available in unallocated reserves and $3,902 in academically related reserves available for all clubs and organizations until the end of the school year.

Feeling financial pinch, A.S. remains neutral on faculty negotiations

Associated Students General Manager David Crandall warned the Senate on Tuesday of potential consequences to their generosity to clubs and organizations over the past year. Addressing the allocated amounts that have been proposed by the finance committee, and then approved by the Senate, Crandall said the money was being allocated at an unprecedented rate.

CSUN students celebrate Iranian New Year

With disco lights, Iranian music and food, the Iranian Student Association kicked off the celebrations of a festive New Year, or NoRuz, for all to enjoy on Wednesday. It was a festival that had all the makings of a party and was attended by nearly 100 people.

Some CSUN students sickened by abortion appreciation day

March 10 marked the eleventh anniversary of National Appreciate Your Abortion Provider Day, yet there was little fanfare or information available regarding the festivities of the day. There were not any scheduled rallies, either on campus or anywhere else in the country.

Driving under the influence

There are many reasons, both good and bad, to drink until you drop, and then drink some more. Alcohol is one of the many escapes our society deems legal and acceptable, so it’s also easily abused. Kegs, twelve packs, vodka, rum and coke, Long Island Iced Teas, saki bombs, margarita Mondays and happy hour, keep college students sane, but sometimes the consequences of drinking can be devastating to a student’s college life and future career because of a DUI conviction.
