The gang is back! Just when we thought it was a silver lining to this zombie madness, their post-apocalyptic world takes yet another turn for the worse.
Season 4 of “The Walking Dead” may have lagged momentum at times, but the finale unravels many unanswered questions.
After a drawn-out series, producer Frank Darabont left us with a cliffhanger, forcing us to wait over six months to find out how it all plays out. How will they escape from this train car marked “A”? Is the asylum Terminus really what is seems to be? Do those that arrive survive?
While the gang’s fortunes appear problematic, the show actually ended on a somewhat triumphant note. The final lines are a spine-chilling preview of what we’ve been waiting for. The Ricktator is back, ready to kick butt and take names!
This entire season was all about Rick’s transformation back into a bad ass after he decided to trade in his shotgun for a farming shovel.
We caught up this week with Rick, Carl, Michonne and Daryl as they made their arrival at Terminus in what was promised to be a safe haven. But things are never what they seem to be in this zombie drama.
Here are some of the big moments from this week’s final episode, spoilers ahead:
Rick Mode
Things get heated when Michonne, Rick, and Carl are set up by their former enemies Joe and his no-good crew of followers with Daryl tagging along. Rick bites a huge chunk out of Joe’s neck and sets with the rest of his crew.
Brotherly Love
Now that Rick and Daryl have reconnected since being separated at the prison, the two converse about what lies in store for the future. In the midst of their heart-to heart dialogue, Rick comforts Daryl by referring to him as his brother. For true Walking Dead fans, we know this is the start of something amazing. There’s no stopping these two alpha males once they come together.
Welcome to Terminus
Rick, Daryl, Michonne and Carl finally arrive at Terminus. But Rick’s gut tells him something is a little fishy about this place. Is that woman wearing Maggie’s poncho? And wait, isn’t that Glenn’s watch?
It wouldn’t be a finale without a shootout, and we certainly got one — this time without the bloodshed.
Cornered in the courtyard, a ritual room filled with candles and “Never Again” painted on the walls, stirs up more concern. Michonne comments “I don’t think they’re trying to kill us,” may confirm suspicions that Terminus is an adaptation of the cannibals seen in “The Walking Dead” comics.
Reunited
The leader of Terminus Gareth, finally takes the upper hand, and orders Rick, Daryl, and Michonne (the “ringleader, archer, and samurai) to enter the train car. When they make their way in, they come face to face with Glenn, Maggie, and others in their group. Realizing that they are all well and alive, Rick delivers one of the best lines to end the series. “They’re gonna feel stupid when they find out… they’re screwing with the wrong people.” Watch out Terminus, it looks like there’s a new sheriff in town.
How will the gang escape? And lets not forget about the duffle bag of shotguns and rifles Rick stored away for precautions. Will that be their nugget of hope? Or will Carol and Tyrese who are still making their way into Terminus come and save the day?
