The Matadors put up a similar effort on day two, and could not find a way to rise above ninth place in day two of the OGIO UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate tournament at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara.

The Long Beach State 49ers finished in first place. Long Beach went into today’s match five over par and finished up two under par.  With scores of 287, 296, 286, in the first, second, and third round, their total score was 869.

The Matadors entered the match at 36 over par. Today, they finished at 12 over par. They stroked a 306 in the first round, a 294 in the second round and a 300 in the third round, earning the team a total score of 900.

Individually for the Matadors, senior Kyler Sauer was their best performer, finishing up tied for eleventh place. Sauer started the match at two over par and ended up even with par. Sauer hit a 77 in the first round, a 69 in the second round and stroked a 72 in the third round, for a combined total of 218.

Matador Michael O’Connor also did well for CSUN. He started the match at eight over par and finished up at five over par. O’Connor stroked a 77 in the first round, a 70 in the second round and a 77 in the third round, for a total of 224. His performance earned him tied for 31st place.

Steven Molumby also had a decent performance in the tournament, finishing in 33rd place. Molumby entered today’s match at nine over par. He finished today at six over par. Molumby hit a 74 in the first round, a 73 in the second round and a 78 in the third round, for a total score of 225.

Although UC Santa Barbara was in first place Monday,  they finished in second Tuesday. They entered the match at seven over par and ended up at four over par. Santa Barbara’s total score was 871, falling just short within two strokes of Long Beach State.
