It doesn’t seem to be a drag for Albert Hammond, Jr. when he makes it out for a show in Los Angeles, and his show on Oct. 14 at the Teragram Ballroom isn’t any different.

Best known for his work with New York alternative-rock band The Strokes, the guitarist has been on a world tour for the last year performing music of his solo work, and his L.A. and Santa Ana shows are part of an eight-week long American tour. With the release of his latest album Momentary Masters in July, Hammond, Jr. is back on the road to promote his new work.

“This tour is much more diverse and I felt like the record was something that was missing in our lives,” said Hammond, Jr. “It means we’re growing.”

The release of his first solo album back in 2006 sparked much praise, which includes the hit single “In Transit.”

“It’s more exciting than when I started,” said Hammond, Jr. about touring off of a new album.

With recent announcement of another Strokes album in the works, Hammond, Jr. stays fresh with creativity on the road simply by taking frequent showers.

“I wash my feet at every rest stop,” said Hammond, Jr.

But since The Strokes isn’t meeting until February, the guitarist is solely focusing on his tour and his own band’s progression.

Tickets are on sale for $20 for his show at the Observatory in Santa Ana, but his L.A. show is sold out.
