With the LA Marathon coming up this Valentines day, Sunday Feb. 14th, a good app to help kick off training would be the “Map My Run” app.
Map My Run is available on both iOS and Android systems and received a solid five-star rating in Apple’s App Store.
The application allows runners and walkers to track their routes, distances, calories burned, speed, and set personal goals, along with many other things.
It also inspires users to connect with other runners who use the app and track their friends distances and compare.
This allows people to “get the social motivation” they need to succeed. The information collected syncs automatically across all devices including phone, tablets and computers, allowing everyone a chance to access and update their information anywhere.
The app syncs with the iWatch, along with various other heart rate monitors, and step counting devices like a Fitbit, or fuel band.
The base version of the app is free, but according to their website, with the upgraded MVP version, members get premium access to features like mobile coaching, live tracking, and advanced graphics.
MVP Map My Run also includes audio coaching that will help athletes set up a training schedule tailored to meet specific goals set. The experience also becomes ad-free, provides heart rate analysis, unlimited printed maps, cadence and power analysis and come with training plans among many other things. The MVP version is available for download at either $5.99 monthly or $29.99 annually.
