CSUN President Jolene Koester will retire by the end of Fall 2011. Koester sent out an email earlier today announcing her plan to faculty and students. A fight at Matador Nights at about 12:20 a.m., April 23, brought the festivities to an early end. Two unidentified male suspects were apprehended by police. One was knocked unconcious for about 10 minutes before he revived. CSUN police has told festival goers to evacuate. A.S. election results are in. Amanda Flavin and Sydni Powell from Strength in Diversity won the bid for the presidency. Along with deciding who their new representatives will be for the 2011-12 school year, students voted and passed the sole constitutional amendment on the ballot, which proposed to move the A.S. elections from twice a year to once a year in the spring semester. An unknown suspect(s) burglarized five dorm rooms on Wednesday, March 30 at the University Park Apartments. There was another burglary and an attempted burglary on Thursday, March 31. According to the CSUN police Campus Crime Alert issued on April 1, the suspect(s) gained entry by forcing bedroom windows open and stole laptops, an X-Box game console and a camcorder. UPDATE: The unidentified CSUN student is Freddy Jesse Carias, 23, who was arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse, a felony charge, according to court records.
