CSUN Police Department released a sketch of the suspect they said attempted to rob a student on campus with what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun, police said.
According to the police report, the incident happened Tuesday at 6:18 p.m.
Police described the suspect as:
- Slender
- White
- Male

He was wearing a black baseball cap, black pants and a black pullover hoodie sweatshirt with red lettering, according to police. He was riding a black mountian bike, according to the CSUN Department of Police Services crime release.
The man attempted to hold up the student near Matador Walk toward the Student Recreation Center in the University Student Union, according to the release.
Police said he approached the student, pointed the handgun toward the ground and demanded she give him money.
CSUN student Romit Patel was unaware of the incident but said his campus safety concerns don’t cross his mind, unless a crime happens at night.
“I’m here during the day, so there are always a lot of people around. If it’s at night, than there should be some concerns,” Patel said. “There are not many people at night so it’s more prone to happen.
