Journalism professor and KCSN-FM News Director Keith Goldstein died Thursday night.
Goldstein left behind a 30-year legacy at CSUN which earned him and his students numerous state, regional, professional local and national awards. Goldstein also received the Distinguished Journalist Award from the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ-LA).
Goldstein’s professional career revolved around radio news and when he arrived at CSUN in 1987 as KCSN-FM News Director, he led many of his student reporters and writers to receive SPJ-LA’s “Mark of Excellence” national first-place award 12 times.
Goldstein also created a six-part series on Domestic Violence – The Cycle of Abuse which also earned him first-place awards from the Los Angeles Press Club and The Associated Press.
Under his leadership, the KCSN-FM news staff also went on to receive six Mark Twain awards for “Best Newscast” in The Associated Press Television Radio Association.
