The Veterans Resource Center held a 9/11 memorial on the Library Lawn from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., remembering the lives lost during the terror attacks and honoring first responders who served on Sept. 11.
Students were able to walk through the memorial that went along the sides of the Library Lawn and read the signs that included the names of the victims inside the World Trade Center towers, a detailed timeline of the “war on terrorism” and other relevant events following the aftermath of the attacks.
Tables on the University Library steps featured uniforms from the U.S. Armed Forces and a setting that honored fallen service members with symbolic items such as a yellow candle, to symbolize hope that the unidentified remains of people are reunited with their families.
“It definitely marks a big part of my career, because I was inspired by the bravery of our soldiers that day and the bravery of all the civilians that died,” said Amrita Kaur, a CSUN ROTC Cadet.
Small American flags were placed in lines across the center of the Library Lawn, each one representing a person that had their life taken from them in the tragedy.
Organizations such as the Veteran Peer Access Network and U.S. Army tabled at the event to provide resources for students as well as recruitment opportunities.
