CSU Board of Trustees has busy schedule this week

The California State University System Board of Trustees (BOT) will be meeting to address the issues of the CSUs this week.

From Wednesday, Nov. 12, to Thursday, Nov. 13, the BOT will hold various meetings at 401 Golden Shore in Long Beach.

The meetings will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday and 8 a.m. on Thursday.

Several items are on the agenda for the two-day meeting.

Board members will discuss educational policy, such as graduation, student success and transfers from community colleges.

The BOT Committee on Campus Planning, Buildings and Grounds will be discussing amendments to the 2014 through 2015 Non-State Funded Capital Outlay Program which affects several CSUs, including California State University, Northridge.

The committee will also be voting on approving the 2015 to 2016 Capital Outlay Program and the 2015 to 2016 through 2019 to 2020 Five-Year Capital Improvement Program, Action.

The BOT Committee on Finance will be addressing budget requests and student fee reports.

Also in attendance will be the Committee on Audit which will follow up on the CSU system audit assignment.

The BOT Committee on Faculty Personnel will discuss issues pertaining to the compensation of employees.

The meeting will also hold a session with the BOT Committee on the whole to address to the prevention and elimination of sexual violence on all CSU campuses.

The BOT has 25 members with 24 voting members and one non-voting member in nine standing committees.

As a result of the Donahoe Higher Education Act of 1960, the BOT was established to govern the 23-campus CSU system through rules and policies regarding curriculum, financing, property, human resources, among others.

The 25 member BOT meets six times per year to allow communication among themselves, the chancellor, campus presidents, the statewide Academic Senate, California State Student Association and the statewide Alumni Council.

The BOT is meant to serve the public and therefore, people are welcomed to attend meetings and address topics on the agenda.
