The Sundial was honored with nine awards by the California College Media Association at the Sheraton Universal Hotel Saturday.
CSUN’s student publication won first place for Best Special Issue in the weekly category for the Spring 2014 Green Issue.
The issue contained “well written pieces, original layout and great use of graphics and art that complement but don’t dominate,” judges said about the issue.
Sundial staff received eight individual awards, including third place in the Best Headline Portfolio as well as honorable mentions for Best Sports Story, Best Photo Series, Best Use of Social Media and Best Illustration in the weekly categories.
Individual staff also received awards for advertising, including second place in the Best Black and White Advertisement category, third place in the Best Online Promotion Category and an honorable mention in the Best Color Advertisement Category.
CSUN’s Scene Magazine was honored with several awards as well, including a first place in the Best Magazine Page/Spread Design for “The N-Word.” Scene also won second place in the Best Magazine category for the Spring 2014 Issue and second place in the Best Magazine Story category for “The N-Word” story.
