Northridge’s representative on the Los Angeles City Council, Mitchell Englander, will be elected to a second term in the City Council election tonight.
Englander, who has served on the Los Angeles City Council since his election in 2011, is running unopposed in the 12th District. He represents the communities of Granada Hills, Northridge, Porter Ranch, Chatsworth, North Hills, Reseda and Sherwood Forest.
Englander is the only Republican on the Los Angeles City Council and serves as Chair of the Public Safety Committee and Vice-Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee. He is also a member of the Planning and Land Use Management Committee.
Englander gave a talk on campus last Spring titled “A Conversation About Local Issues,” hosted by the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
He was backed by The LA Times in their city election endorsements editorial, which cited his commitment to constituent service as his greatest asset.
