Matadors host Bakersfield for non-conference game tonight

The women's volleyball team will take a break from Big West action tonight to play a non-conference match against Cal State Bakersfield at the Matadome. The match is the first of a four-game home stand for the Matadors. CSUN has a 9-15 overall record going into the match, while the Roadrunners' record is 6-17.

Northridge hosts UC Davis Sunday

The men's soccer team will wrap up a two-game home stand Sunday when the Matadors take on the UC Davis Aggies at Matador Soccer Field. The Matadors lost one and tied one against the Aggies last year. This season UC Davis sits at third place in the Big West standings, ahead of CSUN.

Tarik’s late goal beats Bakersfield

The Matadors beat Cal State Bakersfield 3-2 in a non-conference game at Matador Soccer Field on Friday. After taking a 2-0 lead, head coach Keith West pulled several of his starters to give them some rest for Sunday's conference game against UC Irvine. It didn't look like a very good decision, though, when Bakersfield scored two quick goals to tie the score.

CSUN women are sixth at Titan meet

Julie Bradin was the top finisher for the CSUN women's cross country team in the 2007 Titan Cross Country Invitational last Friday with a 19:47 time for the 5k course. Bradin's time gave her a 31st place finish. Julie Swail from Cal Coast TC won the meet with her time of 17:34.

Matadors travel to Riverside, Irvine

The women's volleyball team, energized by their win against UC Santa Barbara last week, hits the road to take on UC Riverside on Friday and UC Irvine on Saturday. The Matadors are just 2-7 on the road this season and hold a record of 8-14 overall, with 5-5 in conference action.

Gillenwater takes second at Aztec Fall Classic

Junior Krystina Gillenwater shot a one-over par two round score of 145 to take second place individually in the Aztec Fall Classic at Salt Creek Golf Course in San Diego. Head coach Bonnie Murphy said she knew Gillenwater was capable of putting up these scores.

Pate earns Big West, SoccerAmerica honors

Robert Pate, a sophomore defender on the CSUN men's soccer team, was awarded Big West Men's Soccer Player of the Week and was named to the SoccerAmerica Team for the week ending October 1. The honors were awarded to Pate after he anchored the Matadors' defense in CSUN's first-ever win over UCLA.

Cross country teams finish eighth at ASU

The men and women's cross country teams both finished in 8th place at the Arizona State Cross Country Invitational on Oct. 6 at Kiwanis Park. The men's team finished with 166 points, with a total time of 2:19:25.20 and an average time of 27:53.04 for the 8k course.

CSUN hosts UCR Saturday

Instead of playing their much-anticipated game against defending national champions UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, the CSUN men's soccer team traveled to northern California to attend funeral services for their teammate Jay Singh, who died unexpectedly at his home in San Bruno on Sunday.

CSUN soccer player Jay Singh died unexpectedly while visiting his family in San Bruno, on Sunday. Singh transferred to CSUN from Loyola Marymount, where he played for two seasons. He was redshirting this season and had not traveled with the team to Irvine on Saturday.

Cross country teams finish 14th in Riverside

The men and women's cross country teams both finished in 14th place at the UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 29 at the UCR Farm Course. The men's team finished with 328 points, with a total time of 2:15:21.00 and an average time of 27:04.20 for the 8k course.

Matadors beat CSF for their second straight win

The CSUN women's volleyball team won its second straight match Tuesday night, beating the Cal State Fullerton Titans 26-30, 30-24, 34-36, 30-25, 20-18 and 3-2. The five-game match was just short of three hours long and featured 46 lead changes and 18 tie scores.
