CSUN’s annual GradFest is taking place today, March 11, and tomorrow March 12 in the Matador Bookstore Complex. At GradFest, eligible CSUN graduating seniors can purchase anything graduation related, such as their cap and gown, sashes, diploma frames and more.
Amy Berger, Matador Bookstore Director, predicts more than “6,000 to 7,000 students will visit GradFest” within the two-day event.
“Around 10,000 are eligible to graduate, half of them get the information,” said Patrick Bailey, director of Student Involvement and Development.
Jeremy Huang, 24, psychology, was there to purchase his cap and gown.
“It seems pretty decent, and pretty reasonable if you just want the cap and gown,” Huang said, regarding GradFest and their prices.
There are four Grad Packs available for purchase, ranging from $181 to $427. All Grad Packs include graduation announcements, cap and gown, and alumni license plate frames, and a 1-year alumni membership.
If students are interested in single items, they can purchase their Bachelor Regalia and Alumni Value Pack for $45. Other items are also available individually, such as official CSUN announcements, thank-you notes and the alumni membership.
“It’s about time,” said Alexa Callaguzo, 24, psychology, when asked about her graduation ceremony.
The Matador Bookstore is also playing host to other businesses selling class rings, graduation leis and sashes, and had a spin-the-wheel game for students to play in order to win CSUN-related prizes.
Businesses such as Jostens, Hilton Hotels, and Rochie’s Originals were present at the bookstore selling various packages to students to help commemorate their time at CSUN.
Commencement ceremonies will begin at the end of finals week, on May 15.
