Dean of the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication, Jay Kvapil, announced Monday that he will retire at the end of July due to ongoing health issues.
Kvapil served as Dean for the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communications for the 2014-2015 academic year.
“I wish I could stay much longer, but health comes first,” Kvapil said in a personal statement. “It would be hard to find a CSU campus where the administration and faculty are more dedicated to their students and more focused on a clear and common mission.”
Kvapil also said that he “hoped he’d been able to make a difference in his college over the past year and that he had helped point the college in a good direction.”
In her statement, CSUN President Dianne Harrison said that she wished him the best in his retirement and that the search for an interim dean will commence shortly.
