For over a hundred years, Los Angeles County has held an annual ceremony to bury the remains of those who died and were unclaimed by their families. On December 14th, 2023 the unclaimed dead of 2020 were laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery with the first publicly open ceremony since lockdown. Attended by government officials, faith leaders and 75 members of the public, the ceremony offered a chance to pay respects to and remember the forgotten community members.
