The silence surrounding the men’s basketball program is deafening.
Five months after CSUN announced an investigation of the men’s basketball program regarding a possible violation of team and university policy, there still has been no decision or update.
Athletics Director Dr. Brandon Martin did not want to elaborate or address the investigation either.
“Right now, I’m not gonna speak to that,” Martin said in a conference call on March 23. “But I’m positive that it will get resolved in a timely manner.”
Over the course of the season, seven freshman players – Michael Warren, Tavrion Dawson, Zacarry Douglas, Jerron Wilbut, Jibreel Faulkner, Kevin Johnson and Miles Nolen-Webb–did not dress for every game, with the exception of Douglas, who played the first two.
Despite the empirical impact the investigation had on the program this season, the school has refused to acknowledge it.
“I can’t talk about the basketball issue,” Dr. Elizabeth Adams, Vice President of undergraduate studies said.
With the season over, and the program in transition, it is unclear when penalties will be handed down to anybody, if any at all.
