As technological capabilities of company’s start to expand, the costs of making tech can become cheaper. Five years ago, nobody would’ve known a touchscreen computer would be less than $100.
This list is for students on a budget that want tech on a budget.
Chromecast is quite possibly the best bang for the buck. At $35 MSRP and the occasional $25 sale this device will turn any TV with an HDMI port into a smart TV. Laptops with Google Chrome can mirror anything on their TV and iPhone and Android users can play Netflix, Hulu, YouTube and more.
Today’s reliance on laptops and tablets make external hard drives almost a necessity. The need to backup photos, documents, data and more should be a priority. At about $55 the Western Digital Hard Drive is a solid backup drive and pretty cheap. It’s $100 MSRP is practically non-existent today because so many retailers have it for half that price.
In college, parties are the norm and everyone wants to enjoy themselves. Why not bring the party wherever you go? At $30 a portable speaker is a still considering anyone can connect their phones and play their own tunes. This speaker can be taken to the beach or even on campus.
There’s no denying that smartphones drain batteries incredibly fast. The bright screen and touchscreen interface make it almost impossible to last through the day with, let alone all your classes. Plugging in a phone right before class starts is a good way to ensure its battery will stay juiced throughout the day.
5. Car Bluetooth
Most students face the troubles of not being able to play music from their phones in their car because it doesn’t have Bluetooth or their aux cables are too much of a burden. Turning a car’s aux into a Bluetooth is incredibly simple and cheap with this device. Gone are the days of tangled wires or short cables that can’t reach people in the backseat. This adapter can connect to any Bluetooth device including laptops and tablets!
